Maddie Jackson

Maddie Jackson is a bright light and a pure joy to be around. Growing up in Northern California, Maddie has dedicated her life to dance, and quite literally can not get enough dance in her life. Her dance journey began at just three years old and since then dance has become her life’s passion. She has been teaching dance for the last five years in tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and hip hop. Not only was Maddie a competitive studio dancer but also a three year captain on her high school dance team. Whether competing on stage, training in conventions, or showcasing for her school team, Maddie excels in what she was born to do - Perform! Maddie is a three year National Dance Association (NDA) All Star and in her senior year was selected to join their staff. Maddie has trained for over 16 years in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and is currently continuing her dance training at San Diego State University. Through the SDSU program she has trained under Jess Humphrey, Leslie Seiters, Eric Geiger, Joseph Alter, Brianna Lopez, Henry Torres Blanco, Kathryn Irey, Khamla Somphanh,etc. In styles such as Gaga, Dancemaking, Musical Theater, Horton, West African, Lux Boreal, Embodied Anatomy, Contact Improv, etc. 

 

Maddie is in her second year of the BFA in Dance program at SDSU and is double majoring in Dance and Child Development. This year Maddie was selected to participate in the University Dance Company representing SDSU at the American College Dance Association conference. She is performing her piece under Leslie Seiters.

 

Maddie’s motto has always been, “Show up, and show out!” On and off the stage, her heart and compassion for others has been recognized as well. She was awarded her high school’s Golden Eagle Student of the Year award for the impact she made on her community. This coveted award is not given out every year and only to students whose impact on the school and community are truly remarkable. A fun fact about Maddie is that she is also conversationally fluent in American Sign Language. Maddie is so excited to work with IMD students and staff and is looking forward to watching her students shine on stage.
